quotes.
I borrowed this fabulous and inspiring book called " exactly as i am ". It was really good. Thought about sharing with you bloggers, blog-hoppers, peeps and readers who's reading it.
You can probably relate to many of th girls who admitted feeling inadequate about th way they look, trying a lot of th reason to th images of celebrities that surround them. Here is some of th celebrities of what they shared.
Iman on feeling inadequate
Iman is among th most glamorous models in th world. Yet she, too, was painfully affected by th idea of "measuring up" as a young woman.
" I struggled with self-esteem. It was quite difficult as I became teenager, not realizing that these feelings are a rite of passage. I was extremely tall for my age and extremely skinny. My neck was extraordinarily long, and I hated looking so different from everyone else. I used to wear collared shirts turned up to hide my neck! "
Jennifer Love Hewitt on empowering yourself
Actress Jeniffer Love Hewitt spent most of her teen years on television. Growing up in an industry that puts so much pressure on girls to act a certain way wasnt easy, but she thanks her mom for helping her believe in herself no matter what. She told th author:
" My mom taught me th things that make you beautiful and th things that make you you. If you're not as skinny as everyone else, but youre happy, then be happy! Its okay not to be th skinniest person at school. Dont let other people tell you how beautiful you are ; tell yourself how beautiful you are. If you tell yourself that youre not worth very much and not as beautiful as everybody else, not as smart or not as skinny or not as 'whatever,' then pretty soon your body chemistry starts to believe that. Th only person who is creating those really "bummed-out' feelings and who doesnt really feel good about themselves is you.
" But if you wake up and put on an outfit that makes you feel good, it doesnt matter if youre th tallest, shortest, skinniest, or biggest, or you have braces or curly hair or straight hair or whatever it is, you walk down that hallway every single day and walk down that red carpet and you feel good about who you are. If you tell yourself bfore you leave your house, ' You know what, I'm a really cool person, and people would be lucky to get to know me bcause I have something to offer th world,' then thats what people are going to believe about you. We put too much faith in other people telling us who we are versus teaching people who we are. That has taken me a really, really long time to learn, and I'm almost thirty, and I still have not perfected it. But it really helps when you realize how much of your own power you have and can use every day. "
Nicely said.
See, not even models and celebrities feel good about themselves and its th time to reflect about yourselves ; accept for who are.
Loves.
